May 22: The Dunbar Neighbourhood Cafe will feature two speakers from the BC Utilities Commission who will talk about clean energy issues and how residents can take part in BC Hydro’s solar self-generation program. This is an especially relevant session at a time of soaring energy prices. It will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 22, in Room 202 of the Dunbar Community Centre.  Alex Baer and Charlene de Boer, both senior officials with the BC Utilities Commission, will speak on:

  • The role of the public utilities regulator
  • BC’s energy supply mix and how renewable energy contributes to safe and reliable electricity service
  • BC Hydro’s net metering program; how residential customers can participate and how they are compensated for the energy they supply.
